I’m sure that you have met people who were very positive.  It didn’t matter when you came in contact with them they were always the same.  Without effort these kinds of people leave lasting impressions that are encouraging and memorable.

They always have a kind word to say, a warm smile or hug to offer, and willingly provide help wherever they see a need.  In fact, goodness just seems to ooze from their very being.  If you happen to be having a bad day just a few minutes spent in their presence will cause your mood to change and you will notice that your spirit has been uplifted.

One thing that you will find in people who have such a positive outlook on life is that they are consistent in the way that they treat others as well as how they handle situations in life.  You won’t find them down in the dumps on Monday, moody on Wednesday, and on top of the mountain of Friday.

Just as there are people who leave positive impressions on everyone that they meet the opposite is also true.  There are people who are extremely pessimistic and find negativity in everything.  If you were to say to them, “Isn’t this a beautiful day?”  They would probably respond by saying, “yeah but, I remember when it was gloomy and the sun wasn’t shining.”

The type of lasting impression that we leave with others is totally up to us.  We have to honestly ask ourselves if we are being consistent in how we treat others.  And does that consistency show forth the attributes of Christ and the fruits of the spirit?  Please note that we should we should take every weakness to God and He will surely turn each one into strengths.  Let’s be intentional about making positive lasting impressions.  The world needs it!

Reflections

1.  Do you live your life in such a way that it’s apparent that you are a Christian or does your attitude make people wonder if you’re really a Christian?

2.  Do a “mirror check.”  Seriously consider what your attitude is usually like.  Is the character of Christ the reflection that you see?

3.  What kind of impression do you leave when others are around you?
